Elgin, IL – Heartland Voices, after their successful first annual Gala and Benefit, A Grand Night For Singing, announces its Ninth Season, a series of concerts that will appeal to the whole family.

 

Ring in the holidays with HOME IS WHERE THE HEART IS, festive concerts filled with holiday music for the entire family on Sunday, December 9, 2007 @ 7:00 pm. at St. Marcelline Catholic Church, 822 S. Springinsguth Road, Schaumburg, IL and also on Saturday, December 15, 2007 at 3:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. in the sanctuary of the First United Methodist Church, 216 East Highland Avenue, Elgin, IL.

 

Nothing evokes the holiday spirit more than the voices of children. Starting at 3:00 P.M. on Saturday, December 15, Heartland Voices’ annual Family Holiday Concert once again features the talents of the Elgin Children’s Chorus Intermezzo Choir and the Clare Woods Academy Choir. Heartland Voices and the children’s choirs will perform festive music for the season with a special finale uniting all three ensembles and celebrating diversity and fellowship. The 2007 Family Concert also announces their Annual Holiday Charity Drive for this year’s beneficiary, the Little Angels of Elgin. All children bringing personal care products, coloring books and drawing supplies for children will be admitted free of charge. Heartland Voices is pleased to have the Elgin Cultural Arts Commission as a sponsor for their Family Christmas concert.

 

At 7:00 p.m. on December 9 in Schaumburg and at 7:30 pm on December 15 in Elgin, Heartland Voices invites everyone to experience the joy and peace of the holiday season at their traditional candlelight concert surrounded by the warmth and beauty of the sanctuary of St. Marcelline Catholic Church in Schaumburg and the First United Methodist Church in Elgin. This evening will be a special blend of the old and the new in celebration of the spirit of the holiday season and features special guest, harpist Jennifer Keller. Come prepared to join in a sing-along of many seasonal favorites!

 

Heartland Voices continues its season with 3 COOL DUDES on Saturday, March 15, 2008 at 7:30 p.m. an the First United Methodist Church, Elgin and Sunday, March 16, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Marcelline Catholic Church, Schaumburg. Celebrate three musical giants with J.S. Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto #4 and cantata, Christ lag in Todesbanden, G.F. Handel’s great Coronation Anthem, Zadok the Priest, and W.A. Mozart’s melodious Vesparae Solennes de Confessore. The Metropolis Orchestra is the special guest.

 

Celebrate the spirit of the Americas with FROM COLOMBIA TO CANADA – EH! the final concert of Heartland Voices ninth season. This concert will be presented on Saturday, May 17, 2008 at 7:30 p.m. in the Blizzard Theater at Elgin Community College and also on Sunday, June 1, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Marcelline Catholic Church in Elgin. Rick Kogan of WGN-AM 720 radio will narrate Randall Thompson’s Testament of Freedom. Another highlight will be the world premiere of Heartland Voices commissioned work by Barrington’s Tim Takach. Join them for this memorable conclusion to their ninth season.

 

Heartland Voices is a not-for-profit organization and is proud to have the First Community Bank of Elgin as the sponsor for their Gala and Benefit and the Daily Herald as their Season Media Sponsor. Their season is sponsored in part through grants from the Elgin Cultural Arts Commission and the Illinois Arts Council (a state agency).

 

Heartland Voices consists of professional and professionally trained singers from the greater Chicago

area committed to excellence in choral performance. They are led by Dr. John G. Slawson, Professor of Music and Director of Choral Studies at Elgin Community College, accompanied by Dr. Paul Satre, Professor of Music at the School of Music at Trinity International University and principal organist at the Moody Church of Chicago and Dr. Marc Alan Brunelle, Minister of Liturgy and Music at St. Marcelline Catholic Church, is the assistant conductor.
