Sunday, June 1, 2008 at 7:00 PM

Meet Tim Takach, composer of To Live Forever, at a reception following the concert on June 1

Heartland Voices’ ninth season ends with many firsts.  The final program, From Colombia to Canada – Eh!, includes a world premiere, new celebrity narrators, and music from foreign lands.

The Heartland Voices will debut Timothy C. Takach’s work entitled To Live Forever. Mr. Takach found inspiration for the work, commissioned to celebrate the Heartland Voices’ ninth season , in the words of Frances Hodges Burnett and her well-known children’s story, The Secret Garden. A reception for Mr. Takach will follow the June 1 concert – come and meet the composer!

Guest narrators will enhance Randall Thompson’s The Testament of Freedom, A Setting of Four Passages from the Writings of Thomas Jefferson. Although Heartland Voices has hosted guest narrators in the past, these concerts will feature new celebrity voices: the president of Elgin Community College, Dr. David Sam, at the May 17 performance and Schaumburg mayor Al Larson at the June 1 performance.

As the name implies, Heartland Voices’ program From Colombia to Canada – Eh, will also feature musical selections from other countries – not surprisingly – from Colombia and Canada.
